Mohamed Elneny has finally officially returned to training with Arsenal this week, the club have now confirmed.

The Egyptian, just like Lucas Torreira, has been given an extended holiday due to his participation in his national team’s summer tournaments.

Elneny and his Egypt took part in the Africa Cup of Nations but were unfortunately eliminated in the round of 16 by South Africa.

Still, despite that not being the outcome he probably wished for, the 27-year-old midfielder played his part throughout the campaign. He was present in all four of Egypt’s matches but couldn’t contribute with any goals or assists.

And of course, he was immediately put to work as the Gunners are gearing up for their last challenge of the pre-season before the new 2019/20 Premier League campaign kicks off.
